After an hour discussion with his assistant and some additional lecture on Beijing airport regulations to me, he said: I risk losing my job on this, but somehow we´ll give you another ticket for tommorrow, and please don´t be late!
"And for the night, go one floor downstairs, there is a counter you can check with for a night room, and please believe me", he said, " there is really no point for you checking in to some 5 stars hotels now just for some hours night sleep until your early flight tomorrow. " No sir, I won´t ", is all I could answer gratefully, still a bit shocked from the fact that my plane is now flying up in the sky without me.
The next morning, I saw this kind elderly man just before boarding. I wanted to thank him again, but he cut me short and say: ... go go show them your passport and don´t lose it now. That might be the last time I saw of him or I still might, no matter how I thought it´s something special to remember always, and makes Beijing sounds specialy beautiful somehow.
